Accessibility
Accessibility is our number 1 priority
ParaPride, the organisation behind Intersectionality Awareness Week celebrates the LGBTQ+ disabled community. We make events, workshops and research accessible to everyone, so that every LGBTQ+ disabled person can feel pride in who they are.
We are dedicated to working with venues demonstrating a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Whilst understanding there is no such thing as fully accessible and there is never a one size fits all, we strive to ensure our values shine through in every event.
On this page, we will outline how we ensure accessibility and inclusion throughout our events. For access information for specific events, (including directions, transportation, venue), please visit the ParaPride Events page.

Website
Digital accessibility is not just a target we aim to achieve. It is an ongoing commitment that we carry into every aspect of how we deliver this website. We recognise that this requires continuous monitoring, improvement, and adaptation. In the sections below, we elaborate on the efforts we have undertaken to ensure digital accessibility for all visitors to the Intersectionality Awareness Week website.
A key part of our accessibility commitment is our use of OneTap, a leading WordPress accessibility plugin trusted by over 60,000 websites. We use industry standard accessibility methods and tools to support this, in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the internet’s primary international standards body. OneTap also supports the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and ADA frameworks.
The Intersectionality Awareness Week website uses the OneTap Accessibility Toolbar, which visitors can access at any time via the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. The toolbar offers a range of user-triggered features that allow visitors to adjust the site to suit their individual needs. These include options to increase text size, adjust colour contrast, enable a dyslexia-friendly font, change cursor style, and more, in accordance with WCAG standards.
We recognise that a plugin alone cannot guarantee full legal WCAG compliance. Consequently, we treat OneTap as one part of a broader, ongoing commitment to accessibility rather than a complete solution in itself.
All images on the Intersectionality Awareness Week website include descriptive alt text to support visitors using screen readers and other assistive technologies. If you spot an image that does not include alt text, please get in touch and we will update it as a priority.
